I've been composing and recording music for many years and along the way, there are casualties that don't make it out of a reel of tape or computer hard drive. I've decided some of these demos, orphans, one-offs, etc. deserve a chance to be heard.

This piece was a demo from 1981 for what soon after become my first solo album, Collection 983: Spectral Voyages. My brother Neal played drums and I did all the other parts. An interesting aspect to this piece is the "prepared piano" part. Using masking tape, certain strings were muted and I played inside the piano with a guitar pick. The resulting sound is harp like but more percussive. The photo is of me in 1981 mixing at a Seattle studio.
